Terrorism: A Global Threat with Deep Roots
The terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, on 22nd April 2025 was not only a brutal strike against humanity but also a grim reminder that terrorism still thrives on deeply embedded toxic roots in our society. This attack targeted innocent tourists, claiming 28 lives and leaving many critically injured.
It is also crucial to understand that terrorism is not a problem of any single country—it is a global issue. It crosses all borders and directly challenges the very foundations of global peace, stability, and humanity.
This incident once again proves that terrorism has no religion. Terrorist organizations often use religion as a mask to achieve their political, economic, and personal motives. They manipulate and brainwash young minds to such an extent that they lose their ability to think independently and become completely controlled by others.
The religious identity terrorists claim to represent often has little to do with their actual lives. Most of the time, they do not even follow the teachings of that religion. Thus, linking terrorism to any particular religion is not only wrong—it’s another form of injustice.
In fact, terrorism is rarely religious. It is far more often connected to politics, black money, smuggling, and social injustice. To defeat it, we must go beyond reacting to incidents—we must recognize and uproot its causes.
So far, most anti-terrorism actions have only trimmed the “branches” of terrorism, which temporarily suppress the problem but do not eliminate it. Until we defeat the ideologies that fuel terrorism, it will continue to survive.
We must seriously ask: Where do these ideologies get their oxygen? Undoubtedly, they thrive on cruelty and unjust discrimination based on religion, race, caste, geography, and politics—along with oppression, misinformation, political bankruptcy, and social mistrus. It’s time we fight terrorism not only with weapons but with a better ideology. We must build a worldview based on justice, equality, and lasting peace.
To truly eliminate terrorism, the whole world must work together as one—not as separate nations or divided religious or ideological groups. All countries must ensure that their policies do not promote discrimination, injustice, inequality, social or cultural tensions, or mistrust in any form.
